Bringing Back the Arts Music Competition

Ever thought of performing on stage at one of Denver’s hottest venues? Then this might be the competition for you.

First Lady of Denver Mary Louise Lee invites DPS students to compete in the inaugural concert for her Bringing Back the Arts concert series.

10 finalists will perform in this concert, competing for:

  • 1st place (Grand prize) 97.3 KBCO Studio C session/live radio interview, opening act position for an AEG LiveBluebird concert in 2012, and a 30 minute mentoring session with Chuck Morris, president of AEG Live.
  • 2nd place will get a recording session at a local studio and tickets to a Red Rocks concert of your choice.
  • 3rd place will receive a $100 iTunes gift card and music memorabilia

How Do I Enter?

Submit a music sample to your School Sponsor (DOHS Advisor), by February 29, 2012


  • No longer than 5 minutes

  • Music must be clean and not contain explicit or suggestive language

  • Music must be placed on CD/Zip Drive and given to your School Sponsor (Advisor)

  • Entry must include genre description (i.e., Rock n’ Roll, Country, Jazz, Rap, Classical, etc.)

Any music samples that DO NOT follow the guidelines will not be entered into competition.

After Turning In Your Music Sample, What Next?

All music samples will be judged by local musicians and celebrity panels.

The judges will select 8 finalists who will then go on to compete at a special concert on Sunday, March 18, 2012 at the Bluebird Theater for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd prize and will receive a ticket to an upcoming AEG show of choice (subject to availability).
