This is a very important announcement regarding October Student Count at Denver Online High School. Please read it closely so that we can ensure that your student is meeting expectations each and every day during the count window.
Most Colorado families with students enrolled in a public school understand the importance of the October Student Count period each year, but we would like to provide a brief overview. October Student Count is a two-week count period when schools are required to report student attendance to ensure that the school is adequately funded for the number of students being served. Per pupil funding through October Student Count determines the amount of money that can be spent on programs, curriculum, facilities, and most importantly, the amazing team who is here to support your student each and every day.
In order for Denver Online to claim a student for October Student Count, we must be able to demonstrate the following for each student:
- Student Birth Certificate-For a student to be funded, the school needs a copy of each student’s Birth Certificate. If you haven’t yet submitted this or are unsure of your status, please contact Secretary Julie Capp at 720-424-8281 or at Julie_Capp@dpsk12.org.
- Residency in Colorado - The school requires all of our students to complete a residency form and submit a utility bill to the school. If you haven’t submitted this or are unsure of your status, please contact Secretary Julie Capp at 720-424-8281 or at Julie_Capp@dpsk12.org. You can find the Colorado Residency Form here. You may email, fax (720-424-8279), or hand-deliver it to Secretary Julie Capp in the main office by October 1st.
- Schedule - All student schedules are submitted to the district and State.
- This is the most important part of October Student Count! Students MUST demonstrate active participation in the instructional program by not only logging into their courses, but also submitting assignments each and every day during this period of time (September 26 – October 10). We will be checking attendance every day during the count window. Students should plan to submit at least 4-6 lessons per day (at least 1 per course) during the count window.EVERY student is required to complete classwork on Wednesday, October 3, 2018!
Please understand that we are committed to supporting you and your child this year. We also want to ensure that students have consistent habits when it comes to attending school consistently and adequately each week. Over the next few weeks, members of our team will be contacting you and your student to ensure these habits are in place!
Thanks so much for your continued support!
