Please join us on Wednesday, December 12 from 6:00 – 7:30 p.m. for the third installment of our Parent Support Group. This month, our group will invite three facilitators from the Mental Health Center of Denver (MHCD), a new partner for Denver Online. Our goals for the evening will be to get to know our new partners, all of whom have backgrounds and experiences in mental health, and engage with them in a discussion around establishing and implementing strategies to ensure we have open, productive lines of communication with our kids.
If time permits, we will have a brief reactionary conversation around the Introduction and Chapter 2 and 3 of Susan Cain’s Quiet: The Power of Introverts in a World That Can’t Stop Talking. We’ll be discussing the roles of introverts and extroverts in leadership, as well as the fine line between collaboration and groupthink.
All Denver Online parents and staff are welcome to attend the Parent Support Group this year! Please understand that, as much as we love our students, the remainder of the sessions this year will not be open to current students. This is in the interest of participant engagement, comfort and confidentiality. Workshops will be designed for parents to reflect and collaborate around the challenges our teenagers face and how we as parents can support courageous conversations, healthy choices and productive actions. Since these groups are held during dinner time, we will order some food. If you will be attending, please email firstname.lastname@example.org with the number attending so that we order the right amount for all.
