Lighthouse Writers Workshop Starting at DOHS

Lighthouse Writers Workshop is coming to Denver Online!!! If you are interested in creative writing, please sign up for this opportunity to earn credit in your English class while working with local author Jesaka Long.

The workshops will take place at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday Connection Days beginning Jan. 29th. Here’s a description from Jesaka:

Mining for Material: A Hybrid Narrative Workshop

In this workshop, we’ll use experiences from your life to create new fiction or non-fiction pieces. In the first few sessions, we’ll look at scene building and emotional truth. Please come prepared with a few memories from actual experiences to use as your raw materials for in-class writing exercises. Then we’ll look at how drawing from your life can make for creative personal essays that read like fiction and fiction (including sci-fi) that feels truly real. At the end of the workshop, you’ll have a personal essay or short story—or maybe even something new that combines the two.

Please contact Mrs. Glynn (jessica_glynn@dpsk12.org) and/or your English teacher if you’re interested!
