DOHS 2nd Semester New Student Launch Week Activities

The following events are for accepted (students have completed the full enrollment process) new students and parents/guardians starting at Denver Online High School 2nd Semester.

New Student Registration


  • What: Every new student will need to come to a Registration Day in order to get their course schedule, turn in all required enrollment paperwork, check in with all of their teachers, ensure that their computer has all required programs and applications, and more!
  • Who: All New Students starting 2nd Semester of the 2018-19 school year are required to attend their scheduled registration time (sign up below)
  • When: January 6th and 7th. Students must sign up for a time using the link below.  Each time slot chosen reflects the time a student should arrive at the building to start the registration process. All activities occurring during the registration time should take a family about an hour and half total to complete.  It is the responsibility of the family to write down and know the time slot the student is signed up to attend once they have signed up using the link below.

  • What to Bring:
    • This sign up is on a first-come, first-served basis, with only four students able to sign up for each session start time.  If a session time is full, please select your second choice.
    • Proof of Residency: Please bring the latest utility bill from your residence
    • Laptop: If you will be using your laptop for schoolwork, please bring it so that it can be checked by our tech team to ensure it has all necessary updates and applications ready for you to have a great start to the school year.
    • $50 for Senior Fee: If you are a senior, please bring $50 in cash or a check for the senior fee.  This will go towards graduation costs.
    • Needed Information for MyDenver Card, Library Card, and Free/Reduced Lunch Applications:
      • DPS student ID numbers, school names, grades, and birthdates for each DPS student in your household.
      • Names and incomes of every member of your household.
      • If you have a SNAP case number from the State of Colorado, it must start with 1B. It is NOT the 10-digit number from your Colorado Quest Card.
      • The last 4 digits of your social security number.

New STUDENT Orientation

  • What: Student Orientation prepares students to be successful by introducing them to the online programs, their teachers and peers, ways to get involved in the school, and extra credit earning opportunities.
  • Who: This is a mandatory three-day orientation for all incoming students so please ensure that you mark your calendars for this event.  Parents may attend this orientation but are not required to be there.  We instead highly encourage parents to attend the New Parent Orientation.
  • When: January 8th-10th, 9am-2pm

  • Bring: Laptops to work on if a student has one and lunch money or something to eat.

First Connection Day of 2nd Semester

  • What: Connection Days are an important time for 9th, 10th, and 11th grade students to meet with their teachers in-person and work on coursework, participate in college and career readiness activities, get involved in service learning projects and clubs, and connect with their peers.  Students receive credit for attending Connection Days.  If a student cannot attend their Connection Day, please call the Attendance Hotline: 720-424-8281.
  • Who: All full-time 9th, 10th, and 11th graders at Denver Online HS
  • When: Every Tuesday, 9am-2pm.  The first Connection Day of 2nd Semester is January 14th.

New PARENT Orientation

  • What: This orientation teaches parents how to navigate the online programs so that they can monitor their student’s progress, grades, and attendance.  It also introduces parents to faculty at Denver Online, to other parents, and to special opportunities for parents and their students (e.g. volunteer opportunities, tuition-free college credit, committees to serve on, etc).
  • Who: We strongly encourage all new parents to attend this event.
  • When: Wednesday, January 15th from 6pm-8pm
  • Where: Smedley Learning Center (4250 Shoshone Street, Denver, CO 80211) in the auditorium

First Grad Prep Friday of 2nd Semester

  • What: Grad Prep Fridays are meant to prepare seniors for college and career readiness. Students receive credit for attending these days. If a student is unable to attend, please call the Attendance Hotline: 720-424-8281.
  • Who: All full-time 12th graders at Denver Online HS and any student taking concurrent enrollment college courses.
  • When: Two Fridays each month (primarily every other Friday), 10am-1pm.  The first Grad Prep Friday of 2nd Semester will be January 17th.
