Dear Denver Online families,

On April 15 our 9th-grade students will be participating in the Colorado School Day PSAT 9 testing. These tests focus on college and career readiness, providing valuable insights to improve student outcomes.

Please ensure that your student attends a testing session at the Rishell campus (451 S Tejon St, Denver, CO 80223. Complete the PSAT 9 RSVP Form for one of the following sessions:

PSAT 9- Monday, April 15, from 8:30 am-12:00 pm

PSAT 9- Monday, April 15, from 12:30-4:00 pm

Completing the RSVP form will ensure that your student can take the test at their preferred time.

Please make sure if your student has any medications or medical devices they need to use or access during testing that you have contacted Stacy Dorian (sdorian@dpsk12.net)  school nurse with that information.

These assessments align with the Colorado Academic Standards and offer benefits such as free practice tools and scores for college and scholarship applications. They also help identify students who may need additional support and indicate readiness for advanced coursework.

To help your student prepare, free practice tools are available for the PSAT testing. Encourage them to take advantage of these resources to familiarize themselves with the assessments.

As parents/guardians, you have the right to exempt your student from certain assessments. If you wish to do so, please follow the directions in the DPS Parent Portal. Families who wish to excuse their student from participation in one or more assessments may follow these directions to exempt a student from participating in state/district assessment in the DPS Parent Portal. Opt-outs must occur by February 28th for the April tests.

We highly encourage our students to participate in all assessments as they provide valuable information for families and educators. The results inform our efforts to improve curriculum, instruction, and leadership, ensuring every child receives an equitable education.

If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me.

Thank you,
