Dear youth councils, commissions, and organizations across the beautiful state of Colorado,
My name is Mona Cho, and I am a Youth Advisory Board member for the non-profit organization Plan International USA.
I would like to invite your students to apply to our Youth Leadership Academy! Our year long Youth Leadership Academy starts with a 4 day residential program in Washington D.C. from July 21st-25th at American University. During the YLA students will engage in interactive workshops on pressing global issues like gender and health equality, civic engagement, and gender-based violence. They will learn from leading youth activists and influencers, and work with other aspiring youth advocates to tackle social issues on a local and global scale.
Each YLA participant will have the opportunity to design a Leadership Project that they will implement in their school or community during the 2025-26 academic school year with the support of funding and mentorship from Plan USA. These leadership projects can also count towards junior and senior capstone projects and service-learning credit.
The YLA is open to high schoolers of all genders, and those that are gender-nonconforming, currently in grades 8-11. The YLA program costs $1,000 but we offer full and partial financial aid scholarships based on financial need. Please see the attached flyer and our website for more details.
